Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Local sports stakeholders want the beleaguered Football Kenya Federation dissolved and replaced with a Normalisation Committee.<\/p>\n

The idea was proposed at a meeting convened by National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) president Paul Tergat and attended by Sports Cabinet, Ababu Namwamba in Nairobi on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The engagement sought to foster dialogue among all suitable stakeholders with invitees including former officials who advised on the way forward.<\/p>\n

“The meeting aimed to address the legal disputes, internal conflicts, and other issues affecting the FKF. We all agreed on the formation of a Normalisation Committee because of the legality and legitimacy of FKF,” the stakeholders said later in a statement.<\/p>\n

The forum said FKF-NEC were expelled from office by the statutes and they were not put back properly, even after losing a high court suit contesting their removal.<\/p>\n

“If we avoid this, then court cases will never end. Even if we assume to give them the benefit of the doubt by withdrawing all court cases and allowing the AGM to go on, the timelines can’t allow them.<\/p>\n

“The forum wondered why it was taking extremely long for FKF to figure out a timeline for elections, adding that it was becoming increasingly difficult to put any more trust in the federation’s capacity to accomplish a fair process.<\/p>\n

“Elections are supposed to be held by October and the FKF constitution dictates that the electoral board should be in place at least six months prior. Already is five months too. The term limit for branch officials will expire in September without extension.<\/p>\n

“Nobody can trust FKF to do credible elections because they are compromised to the electoral code, electoral board, voters register, and dates of elections.”<\/p>\n

Some participants drew attention to the controversial 2020 Electoral Code which they claimed disadvantages some aspirants, even though FKF still insists on using it.<\/p>\n

“We also discussed further how the Normalisation Committee should be composed through NOCK and IOC where Fifa is a member affiliate.<\/p>\n

“Those who attended the meeting included former FKF president Sam Nyamweya, former KFF vice president Twaha Mbarak Sam Sholei, AFC Leopards SC chairman Dan Shikanda, and former FKF CEO Lovick Aduda.<\/p>\n

Also in attendance were Ali Amour, (former caretaker committee member), journalist Milton Nyakundi and Sammy Owino Kempes.<\/p>\n
