Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The United Democratic Alliance on Saturday released results of grass-root elections the party undertook at the constituency level in Homa Bay.<\/p>\n

The National Elections Board member and in charge of Homa Bay polls Halake Dida said 20 delegates including chairpersons in all the eight constituencies were elected.<\/p>\n

The Friday exercise saw the party electing 160 officials in each constituency.<\/p>\n

The officials or delegates will participate in electing county officials in the fourth phase of the party elections in the county.<\/p>\n

Dida said the elections were conducted peacefully in all the polling station.<\/p>\n

In the results, Phoebe Adoyo was elected the chairperson for Karachuonyo, Franklin Oluoch (Homa Bay Town), Okinyi Rao( Kabondo Kasipul), Stephen Sangira (Suba South), Arthur Aoko (Kasipul), David Akama (Rangwe), Edward Odero (Ndhiwa) and Okuku Miregi (Suba North).<\/p>\n

\u201cAggrieved people are allowed to register their complaints with the party elections dispute tribunal. We have other results for deputy chairpersons, secretaries, their deputies, treasurer, persons with disability and youths,\u201d Dida said.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the party secretariat member who was coordinating the elections Evans Ongati said the election was conducted transparently.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe exercise went well and it ended in many constituencies without hitches. The elected delegates are going to help in electing county delegates who will elect the national delegates in December,\u201d Ongati said.<\/p>\n

UDA politicians in the county led by former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero expressed optimism that the transparency in the election will make UDA more popular in Homa Bay.<\/p>\n

He expressed optimism that UDA is going to have over 60 per cent of voters in the county ahead of 2027 general election.<\/p>\n

\u201cUDA has about 200,000 registered members in Homa Bay. We are going to have over 300,000 members before the next polls,\u201d Kidero said.<\/p>\n

Kidero voted at North Nyokal Divisional headquarters in Ndiru trading centre, Rangwe constituency.<\/p>\n

He argued that many Homa Bay residents had expressed their interests in joining the party as they expect to win many seats in the county in 2027.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people of Homa Bay have decided to defy calls of people who were discouraging them from joining UDA. We will win many seats in this county,\u201d Kidero said.<\/p>\n

UDA coordinator in South Nyanza region Kennedy Ondiek and the acting chairman in Homa Bay Kennedy Obuya said UDA is ready to promote its vigour in the county which has been considered an ODM party stronghold.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to compete ODM fairly and surpass it in this county in 2027,\u201d Ondiek said.<\/p>\n

Obuya urged those who are aggrieved with the election results to seek redress from the elections disputes tribunal and national elections board.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe party is democratic and any aggrieved with the election results should approach the tribunal to have them solved. We want to remain a united party after these elections,\u201d Obuya said.<\/p>\n

Kennedy Ongati who was among the party delegates expressed hope in the exercise.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe election is transparent and it will unite my fellow UDA members,\u201d Ongati said.<\/p>\n
