{"id":124280,"date":"2024-08-02T18:12:39","date_gmt":"2024-08-02T18:12:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/kenya-court-orders-extradition-of-us-murder-suspect"},"modified":"2024-08-02T18:37:45","modified_gmt":"2024-08-02T18:37:45","slug":"kenya-court-orders-extradition-of-us-murder-suspect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/kenya-court-orders-extradition-of-us-murder-suspect","title":{"rendered":"Kenya court orders extradition of US murder suspect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Kenya. <\/strong><\/span><b>A court in Kenya on Thursday ordered the extradition of a man accused of murdering his girlfriend in the United States.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Kevin Kang\u2019ethe will go on trial in Massachusetts on first degree murder charges for the death of nurse Margaret Mbitu in November 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Her body was found with multiple stabs wounds in his SUV in a garage at Boston\u2019s Logan Airport, two days after her family reported her missing.<\/p>\n<p>Police say he had boarded a flight from Logan to Kenya the day before Mbitu\u2019s body was discovered.<\/p>\n<p>He was tracked down in Kenya three months after the murder and arrested, but escaped in a mini-van just one week into his detention.<\/p>\n<p>Kenyan police launched a manhunt and investigation, eventually tracking him down to a relative\u2019s home in Nairobi where he was re-arrested.<\/p>\n<p>They also arrested four police officers, two of the suspect&#8217;s relatives, and a lawyer who they accused of assisting in the prison break.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors in Nairobi testified that when Kang\u2019ethe was arrested, he was found in possession of items belonging to Mbitu, including her driver&#8217;s license, Bank of America debit card, and a visa card.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About Kenya Follow Africa-Press<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Kenya.
