Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has sensationally claimed that some people are planning to humiliate leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto during the Coast region’s Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) forum slated for Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa tomorrow.<\/p>\n
The Elgeyo Marakwet senator accused unnamed people of planning to deny the Tanga Tanga leaders seats and even heckle those who would speak at the meeting.<\/p>\n
Murkomen through his official twitter handle on Friday said he has been threatened and told if he attend the meeting, he will be humiliated and denied a seat at the rally.He, however, vowed to attend the rally, adding that if humiliating him and other leaders will help unite the county.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been threatened that if I attend the Mombasa BBI meeting I shall be humiliated by being denied a seat, not being allowed to talk or even if I am allowed to talk I shall be heckled. If that\u2019s what it takes to unite this country so be it and I am ready to absorb. Tukutane Mombasa,\u201d tweeted Murkomen.<\/p>\n
Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi had warned the Tanga Tanga leaders against politicising the process, saying the event is a Coast region affair and outsiders must come with that in mind.\u201cLet them be made aware that you can speak or joke anywhere else in this country but not in Mombasa,\u201d Joho warned.<\/p>\n
Kingi fired a warning to the politicians who are planning to attend the meeting that they should let the Coast residents to air their views because they are the host of the forum.\u201cWhen you come here just remember that this a chance for a Coast residents to discuss the BBI report. So come knowing that you have to give them that chance,\u201d said Kingi.<\/p>\n
On his part,\u00a0Suna East MP Mohamed Junet warned Tanga Tanga leaders to conduct themselves in a decorous manner failure to which they will have themselves to blame.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is my hope that they are coming to Mombasa ready to focus on what\u2019s important and not for sideshows. Because should they attempt sideshows, they\u2019ll have themselves to blame. BBI is about national inclusivity. Glad to welcome them to Mombasa,\u201d Junet warned.The Tangatanga allied MPs on Tuesday dropped their hardline stance on the BBI regional forums and vowed to participate in future ones beginning with the Mombasa one on Saturday.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will be participating in all public BBI rallies across the country and this weekend we will be in Mombasa together with the BBI team,\u201d said Murkomen.The leaders skipped the BBI meetings in Kisii and Kakamega, saying ODM had hijacked the process and was using it to create a team for their 2022 campaigns before deciding to attend the Mombasa meeeting.<\/p>\n
