Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>State House has highlighted key benefits that Kenya expects to gain from President William Ruto\u2019s visit to Germany.<\/p>\n

Ruto is scheduled to depart the country Thursday evening on a two-day official visit.<\/p>\n

In a statement, State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed listed four crucial areas of bilateral cooperation that Ruto will push during his trip.<\/p>\n

It includes employment opportunities for the youth and enhanced educational and vocational opportunities.<\/p>\n

President William Ruto is set to depart for Germany today for an official visit that will see him witness the signing of a Bilateral Labor Agreement ending months of negotiations between the two nations. https:\/\/shorturl.at\/LBaVY<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth countries encourage the immigration of skilled workers who have completed vocational training or a university-level degree, and whose qualifications have been recognized by the competent authorities of the other party,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mohamed noted that Germany is set to waive visa requirement for a labour market test for Kenyans prior to employment.<\/p>\n

On education, Germany, he explained is set to issue long-stay visas for eligible Kenyans pursuing studies or vocational training.<\/p>\n

Upon completion, Kenyan students and apprentices may extend their stay to gain professional experience and potentially secure employment in Germany.<\/p>\n

Kenya also seeks to realise an increased cultural visibility having been honoured as the profile partner country in this this year\u2019s prestigious citizen\u2019s festival in Berlin.<\/p>\n

This makes it the first time a non-European country has been selected to partner with Germany for the festival.<\/p>\n

Ruto will attend the event themed ‘Pamoja-Stronger Together’ in Berlin on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The festival will significantly raise the visibility of Kenyan culture in Germany, fostering greater appreciation and understanding while promoting tourism and cultural exchanges, Mohamed said.<\/p>\n

In the last financial year, Kenya attracted 81,359 German tourists compared to 66,064 in the previous year, marking a 23.2 per cent growth.<\/p>\n

“This festival presents an opportunity to further grow German tourist arrivals in the country,” the State House spokesman said.<\/p>\n

Besides this, he said the trip will serve to strengthen economic ties between Kenya and Germany.<\/p>\n

He said the visit will promote investment opportunities in key sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, tourism and the creative economy and position Kenya as a prime destination for German investors.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis visit not only reaffirm the strong ties between Kenya and Germany but also open new avenues for cooperation that will benefit the people of both nations,\u201d Mohamed added.
