Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said it is time that Kenya, and especially the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, should learn from the US elections.<\/p>\n

Kalonzo noted that Americans held their elections on Tuesday and they were counted, tallied and announced within 24 hours.<\/p>\n

The speedy, free, fair and credible election process compelled the former Vice President to urge the IEBC to borrow a page from the US\u2019s book.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver 150 million Americans voted in the historic November 5, election, and their votes were counted, tallied and announced in less than 24 hours. I believe Kenya, and in particular the IEBC can learn from the United States about how to conduct a free, fair, and credible election,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He went on to congratulate President-elect Donald Trump, noting that Americans have placed their trust in his ideas and leadership, as evidenced by the outcomes of the Electoral College and popular vote.<\/p>\n

\u201cI extend my congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump on your election as 47th President of the United States of America,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish you every success and look forward to working with you.\u201d<\/p>\n

The election, which so far has seen Trump triumph over Kamala Harris, is not just a big deal for the US.<\/p>\n

BBC noted that a new leader in the White House can transform the country’s foreign policy and its position towards its friends and foes internationally.<\/p>\n

Among other leaders who have reacted to Trump presumably winning the elections is Senior Hamas Official Sami Abu Zhuri, who said the former will be tested on his statements that he can stop the war on Gaza within hours as US president.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe urge Trump to learn from [President Joe] Biden\u2019s mistakes,\u201d Abu Zuhri said.<\/p>\n

During his campaign, the likely 47th president of the US said he wanted to see the Middle East return to \u201creal peace, a lasting peace, and we will get it done properly so it doesn\u2019t repeat itself every five or 10 years\u201d.<\/p>\n

Word leaders have also sent congratulatory messages to Trump.<\/p>\n

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has had a difficult relationship with President Joe Biden, said Trump\u2019s victory is \u201chistory\u2019s greatest comeback”.<\/p>\n

He said Trump’s return to office offered a “new beginning for America, a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America”.<\/p>\n

UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said: “I look forward to working with Trump in the years ahead”.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom growth and security to innovation and tech, I know that the UK-US special relationship will continue to prosper on both sides of the Atlantic for years to come,\u201d Sir Keir added.<\/p>\n
