{"id":13411,"date":"2020-08-26T19:47:42","date_gmt":"2020-08-26T19:47:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/kenya\/?p=13411"},"modified":"2020-08-26T19:47:42","modified_gmt":"2020-08-26T19:47:42","slug":"kiprono-kittony-takes-over-as-new-nse-chairperson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/kiprono-kittony-takes-over-as-new-nse-chairperson","title":{"rendered":"Kiprono Kittony takes over as new NSE Chairperson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Author:\u00a0Judah Ben-Hur\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>AfricaPress-Kenya:<\/strong> The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) has turned over a new leaf under the leadership of the Kiprono Kittony (<strong>pictured\u00a0left<\/strong>), in an event overseen by Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Kittony, a renowned figure in business leadership circles has held monumental positions over the years such as National Chairman of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce &amp; Industry (KNCCI).\u00a0Kittony also served as the chair of Media Owners Association and seats in boards of major companies in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my address this morning I affirmed our commitment to increasing the number of listings on the bourse @NSE_PLC,\u201d he tweeted.\u00a0The celebration at the new chapter today was symbolically done by the ringing of the bell by CS Yatani who outlined government\u2019s commitment to working with NSE to bolster the economic muscle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI invite NSE to partner with the Government to embark on aggressive fundraising activities so as to enhance the much-required economic dividend as well as reduce the net domestic borrowing for the Government,\u201d said CS Yatani.<\/p>\n<p>The Treasury CS also noted the critical role the NSE has played in financing infrastructure and its key role in resource mobilization for the Small and Medium Enterprises sector especially in the wake of a pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Kittony takes office at a time when the NSE has faced its most turbulent storm considering how the coronavirus pandemic led to a decline of stock markets in March with stocks such as KCB and Safaricom declining by 7.0 per cent and 5.4 per cent in one day.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list-group readmore my-3\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With a vast knowledge and experience in business leadership and strategy, all eyes are on Kittony as he puts on the captain&#8217;s hat to steer the NSE.\u00a0Kitonny takes over from Mr. Samuel Kimani who was appointed Chair in 2012.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Author:\u00a0Judah Ben-Hur\u00a0 AfricaPress-Kenya: The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) has turned over a new leaf under the leadership of the Kiprono Kittony (pictured\u00a0left), in an event overseen by Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani.
