Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has offered a heartfelt glimpse into his journey with his wife, Pauline Musyoka\u2014sharing how they met, the love that has bonded them, and the challenges they\u2019ve weathered together over the years.<\/p>\n

In an interview with TV47, Kalonzo reflected on their marriage\u2014a union full of love, mutual support, and moments that have tested their strength and faith.<\/p>\n

Their story began in their teenage years during a Christian conference organized by the Kenya Students Christian Fellowship at Alliance Girls High School.<\/p>\n

Kalonzo, then a Form Five student in Meru, met Pauline, who was in her second year at Mulango Girls in Kitui. What began as a simple conversation during a charismatic prayer session would eventually blossom into a lifelong connection.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth of us attended the conference, and some people were speaking in tongues. We just sat there wondering what was happening,\u201d Kalonzo said with a chuckle.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we started a conversation\u2014the ones who were not speaking in tongues.\u201d That moment sparked the beginning of a beautiful journey. As they grew older, their paths continued to cross.<\/p>\n

Kalonzo recalled how Pauline, who worked at the Ministry of Labour under NSSF, would visit him at university in the mid-1970s. Before long, their professional and personal ambitions took them abroad\u2014Pauline left for India to study, while Kalonzo secured a scholarship to study in Cyprus in 1978.<\/p>\n

The two would eventually tie the knot in 1985. As of 2025, the couple marks 40 years of marriage. Kalonzo admitted that their journey has not been without its hardships.<\/p>\n

He opened up about Pauline\u2019s prolonged illness and the toll it has taken on him and their family. This, he revealed, made him contemplate stepping away from the<\/p>\n

political arena. \u201cQuite frankly, with an unwell wife, it has occurred to me severally\u2014I could just quit politics and take care of her,\u201d he said. \u201cBut I know Pauline wouldn\u2019t agree. She\u2019s a vision carrier. She knows where we\u2019ve come from and what we\u2019re meant to achieve, so I keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though he did not go into detail about her ailment, Kalonzo expressed deep appreciation for the support they’ve received from friends, clergy, and well-wishers.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne time, a bishop from Canterbury came here and prayed for her. Israel Mbonyi also came and played the guitar for her. I hold the view that one day she will stand and walk,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n

Kalonzo also spoke of the unwavering support he tries to offer his wife every day. \u201cI know that if I were in a similar situation, Pauline would take even better care of me. So, I can never do enough for her\u2014my role is to bring her comfort and pray for her healing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite her condition, Pauline remained part of important family milestones. Kalonzo addressed public speculation over her absence at their daughter Damarie Saada Kalonzo\u2019s wedding to Martin Nyaga in Naivasha in December 2024. He revealed that two ceremonies were held\u2014one at their home and another in Naivasha.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe came. We had two ceremonies, actually\u2014people didn\u2019t know that. There was a ceremony here at home, where Pauline came out to give her daughter away because she wasn\u2019t able to travel to Naivasha. And that was very special,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Kalonzo concluded by reaffirming his commitment to his family, his wife\u2019s well-being, and his dedication to public service\u2014guided by his faith and the love that has held his family together through the years.<\/p>\n
