\nAfricaPress-Kenya<\/strong>: The Ministry of Health has assured the public that it\u2019s committed to providing quality family planning services.<\/p>\n

Speaking yesterday during celebrations to mark World Contraceptive Day, Health Chief\u00a0Administrative Secretary\u00a0Mercy Mwangangi\u00a0said the use of modern contraceptives among married women has increased from 36 per cent in 2007 to 62 per cent.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are comforted as a ministry as we mark this important day that Kenya has made outstanding progress in increasing access to safe quality modern methods of family planning,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

In line with this year’s theme of\u00a0Sustaining Family Planning Services During\u00a0Covid-19 Pandemic\u00a0While Marching Towards Sustainable Domestic Financing for Family Planning,<\/em>\u00a0the ministry says\u00a0family planning\u00a0counselling can be done remotely from home to avoid crowding at the health facilities.<\/p>\n

Women who are on contraceptives have been advised to get at least three months\u2019 supply of contraceptive pills to avoid frequent clinic visits during the\u00a0Covid-19\u00a0pandemic period.<\/p>\n

The World Contraceptive Day is an annual worldwide campaign that aims at improving awareness of\u00a0contraceptive choices.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
