\nAfricaPress-Kenya:<\/strong> A boy has died and three others injured after a hyena attacked them at Suguta Marmar area in Samburu County.<\/p>\n

While confirming the incident, Samburu Central Deputy Police Commander Abdikadir Malicha said the boy succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the Samburu County Referral Hospital in Maralal town.<\/p>\n

The deceased was in the company of his young sister who was also bitten by the wild animal on both legs and hands as they were herding their family’s goats.<\/p>\n

The girl who is a standard two pupil is admitted at the same hospital undergoing treatment but is in a stable condition.<\/p>\n

Mr Malicha said two other people who responded to save the children’s lives from the hyena attack were also injured.<\/p>\n

He said police received the information and rushed to the scene where they took the victims to the hospital.<\/p>\n

“The police responded and a total of four people were rushed to hospital with injuries. Unfortunately, the boy died while undergoing treatment, another is admitted and two others were treated and discharged,” he said.<\/p>\n

He said members of the public killed the animal.<\/p>\n

Residents in some parts of Samburu Central have been complaining of\u00a0losing property and lives to wild animals\u00a0especially hyena,\u00a0elephant\u00a0and lions attacks.<\/p>\n

The National government through Kenya Wildlife Service has been called upon to\u00a0find ways of protecting residents\u00a0and their property from wild animals\u2019 destruction.<\/p>\n

The residents are also calling upon the government to speed up compensation for the\u00a0victims of wildlife attacks\u00a0in the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
