Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong> <\/span>Mining and Blue Economy Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho has declared that the Coast region has resolved to support President William Ruto for a second term.<\/p>\n

The CS said that the residents have already made up their minds ahead of the next general election.<\/p>\n

Speaking during a rally in Kilifi County, Joho said the region was firmly behind the President and would back him for the full two-term constitutional limit.<\/p>\n

\u201cKilifi residents would like to assure President William Ruto that he has two terms from the Coast region. The whole of the Coast region has decided that it is two terms,\u201d Joho said.<\/p>\n

Joho framed the pledge as a collective political decision by leaders and residents at the Coast, signalling growing alignment between the region and the Kenya Kwanza administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cShould we get the President to the top?\u201d he posed rhetorically, drawing cheers from the crowd.<\/p>\n

This is even as there is an intensified political mobilisation across the country as leaders position themselves and their regions ahead of the 2027 elections.<\/p>\n

Joho, a former Mombasa governor and a key political figure at the Coast, has in recent months taken on a more prominent role in articulating the region\u2019s political direction since his appointment to the Cabinet.<\/p>\n

President Ruto has stepped up development-focused engagements at the Coast, particularly in the blue economy, port infrastructure, fisheries and mining sectors, which government officials say are central to job creation and regional growth.<\/p>\n

Ruto residents of Malindi town, Kilifi County, pledged the government\u2019s continued commitment to running an inclusive government that leaves no one behind.<\/p>\n

To strengthen the blue economy, the President said, they have provided young people with more than 100 boats and disbursed Sh983 million to 278 groups in Kilifi.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are transforming Kilifi County through programmes and policies that are changing the lives of the people. In total Sh21 billion has been invested in the construction of more than 8,000 affordable housing units, 12 modern markets, and hostels that will accommodate 4,300 college and university students in the county,\u201d Ruto said.<\/p>\n

The President later laid the foundation stone for the 1,080-unit Mtwapa Mini-City Affordable Housing Project in Kilifi County.<\/p>\n

President Ruto said the project has created more than 1,000 jobs.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the county, the Affordable Housing Programme is creating tens of thousands of jobs in the construction of modern markets, and college and university students’ hostels. Nationally, the programme has created more than 500,000 jobs for young people across the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
