{"id":158328,"date":"2026-02-21T18:13:38","date_gmt":"2026-02-21T18:13:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/morendat-institute-graduates-139-students-in-hospitality"},"modified":"2026-02-21T18:55:26","modified_gmt":"2026-02-21T18:55:26","slug":"morendat-institute-graduates-139-students-in-hospitality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/morendat-institute-graduates-139-students-in-hospitality","title":{"rendered":"Morendat Institute Graduates 139 Students in Hospitality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"ap-article-header-tag\"> <strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Kenya. <\/strong> <\/span>The Morendat Institute of Oil and Gas (MIOG), in partnership with the Kenya Tourism Fund, on Friday graduated 139 students from its first hospitality cohort at the MTCC Naivasha \u2013 Morendat School of Hospitality Campus.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony marked the inaugural graduation since the launch of the Morendat School of Hospitality, covering students from the 2025 and 2026 academic years.<\/p>\n<p>Graduands from Nakuru and Narok counties received certificates in Food Production &amp; Baking Technology, Housekeeping &amp; Laundry, Front Office, Food &amp; Beverage Service, Barista &amp; Bar Service, and Events Management.<\/p>\n<p>The programme is part of the Government\u2019s Recognition of Prior Learning initiative, which aims to formalise existing skills and raise professional standards within Kenya\u2019s hospitality sector.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event, Joe Sang, Managing Director of Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC), said, \u201cAt KPC, we believe education is the most powerful equaliser. The graduation of this first hospitality cohort reflects our commitment to industry-driven training that equips young people with practical, market-ready skills. Through partnerships such as this, we are strengthening the hospitality value chain while creating pathways for employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Kimani Chege, MIOG Deputy Director of Training and Academic Linkages<\/p>\n<p>MIOG Director Dr Nancy Kosgei added, \u201cThe launch and successful graduation of our first hospitality cohort demonstrates MIOG\u2019s evolution into a multi-disciplinary centre of excellence.
