Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong> <\/span>Interior PS Raymond Omollo has urged residents of Homa Bay County to embrace political tolerance and unity amid ongoing insecurity concerns linked to political differences.<\/p>\n

Omollo said that parts of Homa Bay, particularly Kasipul, have experienced persistent challenges driven by intolerance and rivalry among political actors.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Sunday, PS Omollo appealed to residents to coexist peacefully regardless of their political affiliations, emphasising the need for dialogue and inclusivity.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor quite some time, we’ve had a lot of challenges in this region, bordering on insecurity and a lot of intolerance, particularly on account of political differences. But today I’m happy that all the leaders of Homa Bay County are here and the people are here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would want to plead with the people of Kasipul and the people of Homa Bay in general, and the people of this region, that let’s be tolerant to each other irrespective of our political persuasions so that every person is allowed to converse.\u201d<\/p>\n

PS Omollo said that fostering unity and tolerance is key to addressing insecurity and ensuring stability in the region.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he commended President William Ruto for promoting equitable development across the country through ongoing and planned projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr President, you have shown us equity. What you are doing in Homa Bay today, inspecting and launching projects, you continue to do across the country. For the first time in the history of this country, we have a president who is treating every part of this country equally,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He expressed confidence in the President\u2019s leadership, noting that continued development efforts could strengthen national unity ahead of the next general election.<\/p>\n

The PS said that accelerating the issuance of identification documents in border counties is key to enabling residents to access government services and participate in national development.<\/p>\n

PS Omollo noted that faster access to IDs complements transformative infrastructure projects, such as the Rusinga Island Ring Road, which is unlocking the county\u2019s Blue Economy potential by improving mobility and creating new economic opportunities.<\/p>\n

\u201cFacilitating identification for residents ensures that no one is left behind in our national development agenda. It goes hand in hand with infrastructure projects that bring tangible benefits to communities,\u201d Omollo said.<\/p>\n

He further affirmed that these measures align with President Ruto’s pledge to extend economic opportunities even to areas that historically lag due to a lack of political goodwill.<\/p>\n

Homa Bay County has faced political rivalry and insecurity, often exacerbated by intolerance among political leaders. This has led to a call for unity and dialogue to ensure peaceful coexistence among residents. The region’s challenges are not unique, as many areas in Kenya experience similar issues driven by political divisions. The government’s focus on equitable development aims to address these disparities and promote national unity, especially as the country approaches its next general election.<\/p>\n
