This decision follows KIM&#8217;s unauthorized offering of programs and failure to comply with accreditation laws, affecting students nationwide.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"ap-article-header-tag\"> <strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Kenya. <\/strong> <\/span>The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) has revoked the accreditation of the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM), ordering immediate closure of all campuses.<\/p>\n<p>In a public notice issued from its Nairobi headquarters on April 20, TVETA flagged the institution for offering and awarding academic and professional programs without proper accreditation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has come to the attention of the Authority that the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) is offering and awarding various academic and professional programmes to members of the public without accreditation,\u201d highlighted TVETA.<\/p>\n<p>Effectively, the education authority declared certificates issued after 2018 invalid for employment and academic progression.<\/p>\n<p>TVETA noted that KIM was only accredited to offer programs assessed and certified by Technical and Vocational Education and Training \u2013 Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council (TVET-CDACC). However, the institution went beyond its mandate by offering unapproved courses and engaging trainers without valid licences as required under the TVET Act Cap 210A, the law that governs vocational training institutions&#8217; accreditation.<\/p>\n<p>According to the TVETA, the institution contravened Section 17(3) of the TVET Act Cap 210A, which requires that training programs in a TVET institution be approved by the TVETA Board, by awarding unauthorised qualifications, and Section 23(1) by engaging trainers who lacked valid training licenses across its nationwide operations.<\/p>\n<p>KIM also failed to engage trainers without valid training licenses as required by Section 23(1) of the TVET Act Cap 210A, which mandates that any person wishing to act as a trainer in a TVET institution must apply to the Board for licensing and registration. These laws, by and large, KIM failed to abide by, according to TVETA.<\/p>\n<p>The public has since been warned that KIM does not have the legal mandate to award qualifications, emphasising that any certificates or diplomas issued beyond 2018 are not recognised for employment, further education, or professional advancement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsequently, any certificates, diplomas, or other qualifications obtained from the institution beyond 2018 are not recognised for purposes of employment, further education, or professional advancement,&#8221; the body added.<\/p>\n<p>With this declaration, all KIM 13 campuses nationwide face closure in a move that is set to affect students who had already enrolled in the institution for various programs.<\/p>\n<p>Such students have been advised to seek clarification from the regulator and alternative accredited institutions nationwide, where they will likely receive transition support..<\/p>\n<p>TVETA also advised members of the public to exercise caution while engaging with KIM and to verify the accreditation status of any institution before enrolling in any program of study.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMembers of the public are therefore advised to exercise caution while engaging with KIM and to verify the accreditation status of any institution before enrolling in any programme of study,\u201d the authority reiterated.<\/p>\n<p>The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) was established to regulate and oversee vocational training institutions in Kenya.
