Rigathi Gachagua, leader of the Democracy for Citizens Party, has warned Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale against making disrespectful comments about former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Gachagua defended Kenyatta’s record while criticizing Duale’s remarks, which he claims undermine the former president and the current administration. He also raised concerns about the impending collapse of the SHA,<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong> <\/span>Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader, Rigathi Gachagua renewed his feud with Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale as he warned him against speaking on fourth President Uhuru Kenyatta.<\/p>\n

While speaking during a church service in ACK Sr Mark Maragua Church in Murang’a County, Gachagua slammed Duale for allegedly disrespecting Uhuru in remarks made on Saturday, April 18.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, Duale went public with fresh attacks on Uhuru, accusing the fourth president of undermining William Ruto’s administration and working behind the scenes to build new political alliances ahead of the 2027 elections.<\/p>\n

But in a rejoinder, Gachagua fiercely defended Uhuru, insisting that the 4th president was not comparable to incumbent President William Ruto when it came to betrayals.<\/p>\n

“President Uhuru Kenyatta never paid members of Parliament to impeach William Ruto as Deputy President,” Gachagua stated as he referenced his impeachment in late 2024.<\/p>\n

The former DP added, \u201cPresident Uhuru Kenyatta never sent goons and police to beat and tear gas William Ruto as Deputy President. He allowed him to serve his term,\u201d<\/p>\n

He alleged that since leaving office, Ruto has orchestrated a sustained campaign against him, including sending police and hired goons to his home on weekends, evicting his children from business premises, and facilitating public attacks on his wife, which was not the case when he was the DP under Uhuru.<\/p>\n

Gachagua also pointed out that Uhuru gave Ruto the freedom to move freely across the country during his tenure as deputy, including frequent visits to the Mt Kenya region, without any interference or restrictions from State House.<\/p>\n

“President Uhuru Kenyatta never stopped William Ruto from moving around the country He was everywhere. In this mountain, he was here every week, and President Uhuru Kenyatta never stopped him,” added Gachagua.<\/p>\n

Duale had initially reignited the row by telling Uhuru to “go home and rest,” accusing him of politically backstabbing his successor and attempting to position himself as a kingmaker in the race for the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n

The Health CS also revisited old grievances, alleging that Uhuru “humiliated and persecuted” Ruto during their time together in government, and that Uhuru had attempted to have Ruto impeached in 2019 but failed due to insufficient parliamentary support.<\/p>\n

Gachagua dismissed those arguments, saying Duale was \u201cbusy defending a man whose record spoke for itself\u201d, describing Ruto’s treatment of his deputy as “very, very brutal and extremely inhuman,” both while in office and after leaving it.<\/p>\n

Beyond the political mudslinging, Gachagua turned the spotlight on what he framed as a far more pressing crisis – SHA. He warned that the health insurer was on the brink of collapse and could go down within the next five months.<\/p>\n

He claimed that SHA currently sits on liabilities of up to Ksh98 billion, describing it as a “walking zombie,” and alleged that a Dubai-based company linked to Duale receives Ksh600 million every month, even as SHA’s debts continue to mount unpaid.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, as we speak, SHA has liabilities up to 98 billion. And as I said, SHA will collapse in the next five months. In fact, SHA was in the ICU last year. It left the ICU. Today, it’s a walking zombie that will collapse in a minute. And SHA, when it collapses, it will have the biggest corporate loss in the history of independent Kenya,\u201d stressed Gachagua.<\/p>\n

Uhuru Kenyatta, who served as the fourth president, has faced criticism from various quarters, particularly from his successor, William Ruto.
