Ogamba urged the public to disregard the misinformation, emphasizing that the document did not originate from his office.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"ap-article-header-tag\"> <strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Kenya. <\/strong> <\/span>Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has flagged as fake a viral letter going round on social media that purported to explain delays in paying contracted professionals involved in the 2025 national examinations.<\/p>\n<p>In a public advisory on Thursday, April 23, Ogamba dismissed the letter, stating that it did not originate from its office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe document currently circulating is fake. I urge the public to treat it with the contempt it deserves,\u201d Ogamba stated.<\/p>\n<p>The letter, bearing the Ministry of Education letterhead and Ogamba\u2019s name, claimed to have noted the concerns raised by examiners who participated in the 2025 national examination and to have moved to address key concerns.<\/p>\n<p>The letter claimed that no funds had been allocated in the supplementary budget to pay supervisors, invigilators, security personnel, and exam markers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo funds were allocated for this expenditure in the supplementary budget, which has contributed to the delay,\u201d the letter stated.<\/p>\n<p>The letter also claimed that the CS recognised the role of stakeholders during the exam period and that their contributions remain central to the successful execution of the exam calendar.<\/p>\n<p>Due to this reason, the document stated that the examiners would be paid in the next financial year, which starts on July 1, 2026. Adding that the ministry was engaging the treasury to secure the required budget provisions and would facilitate disbursement on time once the funds became available.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Ministry wishes to inform the affected professionals that payment will be processed in the next financial year, subject to the allocation and release of funds,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>The caution comes weeks after the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) flagged another fake letter that claimed the council had received funds from the National Treasury but was facing delays in processing payments due to missing personnel data.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKNEC wishes to inform the contracted professionals that the board has received the money from the National Treasury. However, it will take a long time to process payments as some data of the contracted professionals is missing,\u201d the fake notice read.<\/p>\n<p>Controversy has surrounded the payment of examiners who took part in marking the 2025 national exams, with thousands of teachers claiming that they have not been paid up to date.<\/p>\n<p>The teachers, through their union, the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), threatened to strike and boycott the supervision and marking of the 2026 national exams if they were not paid.<\/p>\n<p>The issue of delayed payments for examiners in Kenya has been a recurring problem, often leading to unrest among educators.
