Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong> <\/span>The Wiper Patriotic Front has fronted Nyali MP Mohammed Ali, popularly known as Jicho Pevu, as its candidate for the Mombasa gubernatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n

The announcement was made by party leader Kalonzo Musyoka during a political rally in Mombasa as part of an ongoing coastal tour by leaders aligned to the United Opposition Alliance.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of others, I announce Mohammed Ali alias Jicho Pevu will be given a ticket of Wiper Patriotic Front for the seat. He is a governor here already,\u201d Kalonzo declared, signalling early positioning ahead of the 2027 race.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Ali exuded confidence in his bid, telling supporters that he has the strength and determination to deliver for the coastal city.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan\u2019t you see me? You can see my body. You can see I am slim. But I\u2019m strong like railway steel. I\u2019m asking, is it wrong if I go up there and bring services down here? Is it wrong?\u201d he posed to the rally.<\/p>\n

Ali said his focus would be on transforming service delivery in Mombasa, adding that his team is committed to what he termed as \u201cliberating\u201d both the county and the country through accountable leadership.<\/p>\n

\u201cTutaikomboa Mombasa na Kenya,\u201d he said, expressing confidence that he has what it takes to unseat the incumbent governor.<\/p>\n

The rally brought together several opposition leaders under what appears to be a growing united front seeking to consolidate support in the Coast region ahead of the next election cycle.<\/p>\n

Among those present were Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Rigathi Gachagua and Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), Eugene Wamalwa, underscoring efforts to build a broad-based coalition.<\/p>\n

The leaders have been traversing the coastal county in a series of rallies aimed at galvanising support and positioning themselves as a viable alternative to the current administration.<\/p>\n

The move also signals the beginning of what is expected to be a highly contested gubernatorial race, with political alignments already taking shape nearly a year before the campaign season officially kicks off.<\/p>\n

As the opposition intensifies its outreach in the Coast, attention will now turn to how other parties respond and whether further alliances will be formed in the run-up to 2027.<\/p>\n

For now, Wiper\u2019s decision to front Mohammed Ali sets the stage for an early and potentially competitive battle for control of Mombasa County.<\/p>\n
