\nAfricaPress-Kenya:<\/strong> Twenty-one more patients have succumbed to Covid-19 raising the country’s death toll to 1,093.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Kenya has recorded 1,109 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours raising the country’s total caseload to 60,704.<\/p>\n

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Friday announced that the new cases are from a sample size of 7,153. This pushes the country\u2019s cumulative tests to 730,363.<\/p>\n

As per county distribution, Nairobi is leading with 347 cases, Mombasa and Nakuru recorded 198 and 73 cases respectively.<\/p>\n

Other counties recorded; Uasin Gishu 69, Meru 63, Kiambu 40, Kisumu 36, Nyeri 29, Kilifi 28, Kakamega 25, Trans Nzoia 23, Kajiado 20, Turkana 20, Machakos 17, Busia 15, Laikipia 14, Bungoma 12, Garissa 11, Kisii 11, Siaya 10, Kitui 7, Kwale 7, Nandi 6, Tharaka Nithi 6, Kericho 4, Murang’a 4, Mandera 3, Baringo 3, Embu 2, Bomet 1, Makueni 1, Isiolo 1, Kirinyaga 1, Taita Taveta 1 and Nyamira 1.<\/p>\n

Kagwe revealed there are 1,300 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 5,439 are on Home Based Isolation and Care. 60 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 27 of whom are on ventilatory support and 27 on supplemental oxygen.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnother 89 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 75 are in the general wards, while 14 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On a positive note, 938 patients have recovered from the disease, 856 from the Home-Based Care Program, while 82 have been discharged from various hospitals. Total recoveries now stand at 40,131.<\/p>\n

Kagwe had warned that the health facilities are also likely to be overwhelmed if Kenyans continue disregarding the Covid-19 health protocols put in place like wearing a face mask.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish to make a passionate appeal and plead with you to save yourself and save our country. The more people get infected the more we are going to have more problems,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The upward trend in recent weeks forced the Head of State to reintroduce new measures to curb the virus’s spread, just weeks after lifting some restrictions.<\/p>\n
