{"id":19156,"date":"2020-12-14T21:24:22","date_gmt":"2020-12-14T21:24:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/kenya\/?p=19156"},"modified":"2020-12-14T21:24:22","modified_gmt":"2020-12-14T21:24:22","slug":"bondeni-fc-and-divas-win-anti-gender-based-tournament-in-eldoret","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/sport\/bondeni-fc-and-divas-win-anti-gender-based-tournament-in-eldoret","title":{"rendered":"Bondeni FC and Divas win anti- gender-based tournament in Eldoret"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>AfricaPress-Kenya:<\/strong> Bondeni FC and Bondeni Divas were crowned the champions of the anti-Gender Based Violence (GBV) tournament played at Bishop Delany High School in Eldoret yesterday evening.<\/p>\n<p>The two teams, who train together, surprised football and ladies\u2019 fans as Bondeni FC won the men\u2019s title while Bondeni Divas won the women\u2019s title in a tournament that attracted over ten teams.<\/p>\n<p>Ian Kiptanui ,18, and Emmanuel Brian, 17, scored a goal each at the finals for Bondeni to beat St. Joseph 2-0 in the men\u2019s final match.<\/p>\n<p>Kiptanui, who was the man of the match, beat St. Joseph\u2019s keeper Nimrod Kiplagat after receiving a pass from Brian Kibet in the 10th\u00a0minute.<\/p>\n<p>Few minutes later as the celebration was still on, Brian capitalised on a defensive lapse when Kibet collided with defender Alvin Odhiambo to give the former an easy scoring chance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m happy for teh win. We were well prepared and all my team mates were fit for the match.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.standardmedia.co.ke\/images\/monday\/cpwcra0i8cpkr9f75fd683923d0f7.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Kiptanui praised the tournament organiszers saying such events would bring the people together especially this time of politics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have learnt a lot since we started engaging in this football events, \u201d Kiptanui told Standard Sports after the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Brian emerged the tournament\u2019s top scorer after netting eight goals in the four matches they played.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s category, Bondeni Divas were crowned the champions after collecting all points in the round-robin tournament. The Divas collected six with ten goals ahead of Espodec who finished second with four points.
