Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua has announced a two-week recess for Cabinet starting on December 22, 2020, to January 3, 2021.<\/p>\n

In a statement to newsrooms, Kinyua announced that the Cabinet Secretaries will have an opportunity to spend time with their loved ones during the festive season.<\/p>\n

He announced that the scheduled presidential engagements and the calendar of the National Security Council (NSC), the National Security Council Advisory Committee (NSAC) would continue as planned.<\/p>\n

He added that the Cabinet, Cabinet Committees and Technical Committees will not have any scheduled engagements.<\/p>\n

This is unless they are directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to show up for urgent business, cases of national emergency, or any other exceptional circumstances.<\/p>\n

Members of Cabinet (excluding those who are members of the National Security Council and National Emergency Response Committee on Coronavirus) shall be allowed to take leave from office, subject to the prior approval of the President.<\/p>\n

\u201cNotwithstanding the recess, delivery of government services will continue uninterrupted and at the same service standard,\u201d Kinyua stated.<\/p>\n

In August, there were speculations after the president directed all Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and Chief Administrative Secretaries to take a 14-day break for a period of 11 days.<\/p>\n

The president annulled an order where he had barred the cabinet secretaries from travelling outside Nairobi after a surge in Covid-19 cases across the country.<\/p>\n

At the time, a number of reports speculated that the president would reshuffle the team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
