The funeral arrangements for former President Daniel Moi will be handled by the State, the family has said.<\/p>\n
Addressing the press, Rongai Member of Parliament Raymond Moi said that the family cannot settle on burial date as of now because it is a State funeral.He said that the date would be set after consultation between the family and the government and that further updates on burial plans would be provided by Government Spokesman retired Col Cyrus Oguna.<\/p>\n
Speaking on behalf of the Moi family, Raymond thanked the government for moving swiftly to support the family from the time that Mzee Moi fell ill. He thanked Kenyans and leaders who have sent condolences to the family after the demise of their father.He stated: “Although we are in deep sorrow, we cannot fail to take note of the immense comments of condolences from leaders and the people of Kenya from all walks of life.”<\/p>\n
“We know that the days ahead are going to be tough for all of us, both young and old, and we, therefore, ask for your prayers to the family and the people of Kenya who are bereaved by this great loss of someone they loved and lived with for all their lives.”Speaking while flanked by family members at Kabarnet Gardens, Raymond revealed that Moi was undergoing treatment for three months and was being handled by a team of local and foreign medics.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are aware that the best in medical science and clinical medicine was deployed to save Mzee\u2019s life.\u00a0 But our creator had decided that his time had come. Now that his time has arrived contrary to our expectations. It is our prayer that God gives us the energy to brave the troubled waters until Mzee is laid to rest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
