Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>President Uhuru Kenyatta, on New Year’s eve, broke the tradition of presidents crossing over the year in Mombasa and instead chose his newly acquired 1,000-acre new home located in the Maasai Mara area, Narok County.<\/p>\n

on Saturday, January 2, reported that the Head of State gave his annual end-of-year speech at the expansive ranch overlooking the Maasai Mara National park.<\/p>\n

The new home is located in Oloolmongi, Lolgorian Ward which is speculated to be Uhuru’s retirement home after he leaves office in 2022.<\/p>\n

The president reportedly bought the ranch from Olerien and Kengani group in 2020. He is also said to have purchased another parcel of land where he intends to set up a tourist lodge.<\/p>\n

During a New Years’ invite-only event, the president’s protocol team ordered all guests to leave their phones at the gate of the ranch to keep photos from leaking to the public.<\/p>\n

Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina, on Twitter, welcomed his new high-profile neighbour congratulating him for choosing Narok.<\/p>\n

“Welcome to Narok County Mr. President and thank you for choosing Narok County as a place to celebrate the New Year and also to retire!<\/p>\n

“Sasa badilisha hiyo kura yako iwe ya<\/b><\/p>\n

Narok (Now change your voting location to Narok),” stated Ledama.<\/p>\n

The ranch is located next to the Masai Mara Game Reserve.<\/p>\n

During his stay at the ranch, Uhuru also created one more sub-county bringing the total to seven.<\/p>\n

The Head of State has blood ties to the region since his great grandfather married a Masai Woman who gave birth to Mungai, the father of Jomo Kenyatta.<\/p>\n

In a meeting attended by leaders from the region, the head of state is said to have promised to employ an assistant county commissioner from the region.<\/p>\n
