Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>A popular Kalenjin gospel musician Hellen Koligey has died.<\/p>\n

Nakuru Woman Rep Liza Chelule announced on her facebook page that Koligey succumbed to breast cancer on Thursday, January 7.<\/p>\n

“Kalenjin Gospel artist Hellen Koligey succumbed to breast cancer. May her soul rest in peace,” she wrote.<\/p>\n

Some of her songs include; Moutien Chi Jehovah, Ichilili, Kiatil Etyet and Achame Jesu.<\/p>\n

Breast cancer is the leading form of cancer in Kenya, with about 6,000 new cases every year.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Health has been conducting Breast Cancer screening as well as appealing to women to get tested.<\/p>\n

Some of the signs of breast cancer include; Lump in the breast, asymmetry, skin retraction, recent nipple retraction, blood-stained nipple discharge, eczematous changes in areola.<\/p>\n

Koligey’s death came just a few months after another musician, Ednah Cherono Kosgei, succumbed to kidney disease and spine complications.<\/p>\n

She died while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital.<\/p>\n

Kosgei was a member of the renowned Kericho-based Great Commission Singers led by Pastor Joel Kimetto.<\/p>\n
