Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>President Uhuru Kenyatta was on Thursday, January 14, presented with the Nyamira development memorandum at State House, Nairobi.<\/p>\n

The memorandum had been initiated by former Nyamira County Governor Wycliffe Nyangarama before he died. The current governor Amos Nyaribo presented the memorandum to the president.<\/p>\n

“We led leaders from Nyamira County to State House to present a development memorandum to President Uhuru Kenyatta. Our late Gov Nyagarama initiated the memorandum among other development proposals,” Nyaribo stated.<\/p>\n

Other leaders present during the ceremony included; Governors Amos Kimwoni Nyaribo (Nyamira) and James Ongwae (Kisii), Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang\u2019i among other Gusii leaders.<\/p>\n

The late governor had wanted to read it to the president in October 2020 so that Uhuru could help them achieve it just like he had assisted Kisii and other counties.<\/p>\n

However, he was booed by some residents in the presence of the president during a rally in Ikonge, an incident that did not sit well with the head of state.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had planned to read the Nyamira County Memorandum to the President so that he could help us achieve it just like he had assisted Kisii and other counties.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, some goons were hired to heckle me and I asked them whether they wanted development or heckling and they chose the latter. I don\u2019t want to dwell on that because it doesn\u2019t affect me personally but affects the development of the county. The money and resources would have been used here. However we are still following up with him,\u201d Nyangarama said then.<\/p>\n

At Statehouse, the president donated a school bus to Ikonge Boys Secondary. The 46-seater bus was handed to Nyamira Senator Okongo Omogeni at State House, Nairobi.<\/p>\n

Nyangarama died aged 74 in December 2020 at the Nairobi Hospital intensive care unit (ICU).<\/p>\n
