Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has been selected as an Amujae Leader in the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (EJS) Presidential Center for Women and Leadership.<\/p>\n

The governor shared the exciting news in a statement on her social media, expressing her gratitude for the selection.<\/p>\n

“To have been selected from a long list of accomplished women leaders from across the continent, is both a great encouragement to me and a fomenting of hope in my quest for gender equality,” reads the statement.<\/p>\n

The Amujae Initiative is the EJS’ flagship program designed to boost women leaders and accelerate their leadership journeys.<\/p>\n

EJS was founded by former Liberian Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who is also the first female head of state in Africa.<\/p>\n

Through this initiative, the EJS center seeks to catapult female African leaders to greater heights by fanning their ambition and equipping them with the necessary tools and support to advance the levels of public leadership.<\/p>\n

“I look forward to drawing from the programs network spanning former Heads of State, accomplished public servants, inauhural Amujae leaders as well as my fellow cohort members from across the continent.<\/p>\n

The EJS Center selects accomplished women with backgrounds in public service, elected office, or policy to take part in the initiative and receive training, mentorship, and support from a network of women leaders from across the continent.<\/p>\n

Waiguru stated that she was drawn to the programme because it encouraged women to pull each other with the hope of changing the status quo.<\/p>\n

She vowed that she would also pass skills learnt to other women as well.<\/p>\n

“I reiterate my commitment to passing on the knowledge and skills I will acquire to other women so we can together secure more equal female representation at critical decision tables, thereby influencing the trajectory of the African continent towards our shared ultimate destiny,” Waiguru stated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
