{"id":20980,"date":"2021-01-16T20:13:55","date_gmt":"2021-01-16T20:13:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/?p=20980"},"modified":"2021-01-16T18:13:05","modified_gmt":"2021-01-16T18:13:05","slug":"kdf-officer-raids-ex-wifes-home-launches-smoke-grenade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/kdf-officer-raids-ex-wifes-home-launches-smoke-grenade","title":{"rendered":"KDF Officer Raids Ex-Wife&#8217;s Home, Launches Smoke Grenade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\">Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>A Kenya Defence Forces officer raided the home of his former wife in Marachi Central, Busia County and launched a smoked grenade following a heated argument.<\/p>\n<p>The military man, on Saturday, January 16, confronted the ex-wife over the custody of their children.<\/p>\n<p>Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) sleuths said that KDF officer wanted to take away the kids from their mother.<\/p>\n<p>Sergeant, Denis Ochieng, took the grenade from his military jacket, throwing it on the compound before vanishing.<\/p>\n<p>This was after he got tired of waiting for his ex-wife&#8217;s parents to arrive and hold a discussion on his demands, as suggested by the estranged woman.<\/p>\n<p>On realising that the grenade had not exploded, Ochieng ran back, collected it and disposed of it in a nearby river.<\/p>\n<p>Neighbours who witnessed the unfolding drama reached out to DCI officers who responded swiftly and apprehended him.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We reported the case to KDF&#8217;s military police who also rushed to the scene.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They teamed up with Butula-based detectives in the ongoing search for the disposed grenade,&#8221; DCI tweeted.<\/p>\n<p>The DCI detectives placed Ochieng under custody as investigations into the matter commenced.<\/p>\n<p>They also ascertained that the sergeant is based in Mandera County and serves at a paraunit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Kenya.
