Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has accused Wiper Kenya Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka of interfering with former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama’s marriage to settle a personal grudge.<\/p>\n

Mutua castigated the move by Kalonzo’s party, Wiper Democratic Movement, to front Muthama’s ex-wife, Agnes Kavindu, as their candidate for the Upcoming Machakos Senatorial Seat.<\/p>\n

The Governor claimed that the only reason Kavindu was chosen was to settle a personal grudge between him and the former Machakos Senator.<\/p>\n

“With all due respect, Honourable Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has demeaned us and has shamed us as the people of Machakos and Ukambani. He went on to recruit a candidate from another party to vie to the county’s senatorial seat.<\/p>\n

“To make it worse, he took Senator Muthama’s wife to make her senator as to make him jealous. This means that he does not intend to give the people of Machakos a leader, rather, to settle personal scores by mingling with another man’s marriage,” Governor Mutua stated.<\/p>\n

Mutua termed Kalonzo’s antics as cheap and undeserving of a leader of his stature.<\/p>\n

The Governor assured that the people of Machakos would not allow the former Vice President to demean them in that manner.<\/p>\n

Mutua further insinuated that the move by Kalonzo was an open display of disrespect to the elderly and women in the county of Machakos.<\/p>\n

“We want to ask him to ask for forgiveness. That is not in the habit for an elderly person and a leader of his stature to mingle with another’s family for political gain,” Mutua remarked.<\/p>\n

“So he was not seeking a leader fit for Machakos, he was seeking a leader who would make his opponent jealous, just to show off,” he added.<\/p>\n

Governor Mutua assured that the people of Ukambani would not be drawn into personal vendetta’s, further urging residents to ignore Kalonzo’s agenda.<\/p>\n

The Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader called upon elders and religious leaders from the region to summon and advice Kalonzo accordingly as he had made the region a laughing stock.<\/p>\n

“Here we have a problem and I would like to ask you (elders and religious leaders) to solve it,” he urged.<\/p>\n

Kalonzo has dismissed allegations of spitting Muthama, saying Kavindu was picked on her own merit as she is an experience politician.<\/p>\n

He added that his party had picked Muthama’s ex-wife over likes of Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Mercy Mwangangi to fly the party flag in the March 18, 2021, by-election.<\/p>\n

Kavindu hwas a member of the BBI taskforce and previously contested the Machakos Woman Representative seat on a Jubilee ticket in the 2017 General Election.<\/p>\n

Following her confirmation by Wiper Kenya, she is set to battle it out against the likes of Urbanus Mutunga Muthama Ngengele who is the candidate for the Muthama-led United Democratic Alliance (UDA).<\/p>\n
