He was attended to and allowed to go home and continue with the self-isolation,&#8221;<\/p>\n<article data-align=\"center\">\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kenyans.co.ke\/files\/styles\/article_inner_mobile\/public\/images\/media\/ODM%20Party%20Leader%20Raila%20Odinga%20adrressing%20the%20media%20on%20November%2015%2C%202020..jpg?itok=p6BCzdhD\" alt=\"ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga addressing the media on November 15, 2020.\" width=\"470\" height=\"313\" \/><\/div>\n<div>ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga addressing the media on November 15, 2020.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/article>\n<p>Oburu Odinga, his elder brother, confirmed that Raila checked in at the hospital for a routine check up with the doctors after he\u00a0tested positive for Covid-19.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Raila is doing well. It was just a normal check-up. He is back home,&#8221; Oburu told the People Daily.<\/p>\n<p>Odinga was first admitted at the Nairobi Hospital on Tuesday, March 9, after he complained of body ache, fatigue and other symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>Two days later, he tested positive for Covid-19. His doctors confirmed, saying that he was progressing well and will be monitored for further developments.<\/p>\n<p>Raila was discharged a few days later and he shared a video on his social media pages, thanking his doctors and assuring his followers that he was feeling better.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is wonderful. It is so nice to be back home. It was like a prison back there. I like to be in the fresh air and to see nature. I will be strictly self-isolating until further notice,&#8221; Raila said on Sunday, March 14.<\/p>\n<p>He urged Kenyans to continue taking precautionary measures and follow regulations set up by the Ministry of Health. These are washing hands, isolating and social-distancing.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, March 18, Kenya recorded its highest daily Covid-19 positive cases in the year 2021. 1,225 people had tested positive for Covid-19, out of a sample size of 7,308 tested in 24 hours. 17 succumbed to the virus as announced by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe.<\/p>\n<p>As of that day, the total number of positive cases\u00a0stood at 116, 310, with 1,937 fatalities\u00a0and 89,061 recoveries recorded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AfricaPress-Kenya: ODM leader Raila Odinga was taken back to the Nairobi Hospital, a few days after he was discharged and directed to isolate at home.
