{"id":24561,"date":"2021-03-21T21:41:31","date_gmt":"2021-03-21T21:41:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/?p=24561"},"modified":"2021-03-21T21:41:31","modified_gmt":"2021-03-21T21:41:31","slug":"17-patients-die-as-covid-19-cases-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/community\/17-patients-die-as-covid-19-cases-rise","title":{"rendered":"17 Patients Die as Covid-19 Cases Rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>AfricaPress-Kenya:<\/strong> Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on Sunday, March 20, announced that 747 people had\u00a0tested positive for Covid-19, out of a sample size of 5,145\u00a0tested in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, Kagwe announced that 17\u00a0patients\u00a0succumbed to the disease. 7\u00a0of them have occurred in the last 48 hours while 10 are late death reports from facility record audits that have occurred on diverse dates. This brings the cumulative fatality to\u00a0 2,011.<\/p>\n<p>The total confirmed positive cases now stand at 120,910. The total tests conducted so far are 1,414,865. From the cases, 710\u00a0are Kenyans while 37\u00a0are foreigners. 396\u00a0are males and 351 are females.<\/p>\n<article data-align=\"center\">\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kenyans.co.ke\/files\/styles\/article_inner_mobile\/public\/images\/media\/vaccine.jpg?itok=kROvL4Ev\" alt=\"Covid- 19 Vaccine\" width=\"470\" height=\"264\" \/><\/div>\n<div>AstraZeneca Covid-19 Vaccine<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/article>\n<p>The CS further noted with concern media reports to the effect that the vaccination deployment plan targeting frontline workers as is policy is being abused. Kagwe clarified\u00a0that the vaccination plan remains intact and targets all persons resident in Kenya including those serving in the diplomatic corps.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, 114\u00a0patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours. Total recoveries now stand at 89,622.<\/p>\n<p>There are 889 patients currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 2,545 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.<\/p>\n<p>121\u00a0patients are in the Intensive Care Unit\u00a0(ICU), 32 of whom are on ventilator support and 86\u00a0on supplemental oxygen. 18\u00a0in the High Dependency Unit ( HDU ).<\/p>\n<p>Another 59\u00a0patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 41\u00a0of them in the general wards.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of Sub County distribution; the 524 cases in Nairobi are from Westlands (56), Dagoretti North (47), Kamukunji and Lang&#8217;ata\u00a0(37) cases each, Roysambu (33), Kibra and Ruaraka (31) cases each, Embakasi South (30), Embakasi West (29), Makadara (28), Embakasi Central (26), Embakasi East and Starehe (25) cases each, Kasarani\u00a0(24), Mathare (23), Dagoretti South (22), Embakasi North (20).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AfricaPress-Kenya: Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on Sunday, March 20, announced that 747 people had\u00a0tested positive for Covid-19, out of a sample size of 5,145\u00a0tested in the last 24 hours.
