AfricaPress-Kenya:<\/strong> State House Deputy Director for branding and events Thomas Kwaka, alias Big Ted,\u00a0attracted backlash\u00a0from a section of Kenyans over remarks he made on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s track record.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Daniel Ndambuki alias\u00a0Churchill,<\/em>\u00a0Big Ted,\u00a0a renowned emcee and event organiser, affirmed that all Kenyans had a role to play in shaping up the country – and noted that Uhuru had done a splendid job as a president.<\/p>\n

“It’s very hard for Kenyans to understand the President and the Presidency, and\u00a0I see people online talking bad about the President, and yet we are all part of the Government.\u00a0You can’t complain about corruption and you yourself are busy being corrupt.<\/p>\n

“President Uhuru Kenyatta has Kenyans’ interests at heart…he has redefined the Presidency during his tenure,” Big Ted stated.<\/p>\n

His comments elicited\u00a0negative reactions\u00a0from Kenyans online, most of whom criticised Big Ted for his remarks.<\/p>\n

“Trying to understand Big Ted’s statement…so the president walking and driving in a Probox is the sign of being united with Kenyans, and yet he can’t fight corruption. We have a high cost of living while most youths are unemployed.<\/p>\n

“It’s only the people next to the president who feel good about everything in this nation.<\/p>\n

“True, the guy is wise, but all that chumminess means nothing for the common\u00a0mwananchi<\/em>\u00a0in a tanking economy with zero trickle-down effect in the midst of monumental fuel guzzlers for state baron,” read some of the comments online.<\/p>\n

Big Ted also spoke about his challenges during his career, alluding to the losses his company,\u00a0Main Events,<\/em>\u00a0incurred due to financial mismanagement.<\/p>\n

He detailed that his company had incurred a Ksh 15 million debt, which made the company struggle to stay afloat. Fortunately, his business was saved when a lady approached him and offered to buy the company, including settling the Ksh15 million debt.<\/p>\n

Big Ted is widely acknowledged in the entertainment industry and was known for\u00a0mobilising the youth\u00a0to rally behind Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto during their 2017 campaigns.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
