This brings the cumulative fatality to\u00a0 2,023.<\/p>\n<article data-align=\"center\">\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kenyans.co.ke\/files\/styles\/article_inner_mobile\/public\/images\/media\/covid.jpg?itok=e9KU2_th\" alt=\"A team of health officials conducting a burial of a Covid-19 victim\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/div>\n<div>A team of health officials conducting a burial of a Covid-19 victim in May 2020<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/article>\n<p>From the positive cases recorded in the last 24 hours, 1,059\u00a0are Kenyans while 71\u00a0are foreigners. 586\u00a0are males while 544\u00a0are females.<\/p>\n<p>The youngest is a one-year-old infant while the eldest is 94\u00a0years.<\/p>\n<p>754 patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours. Total recoveries now stand at 90,376.<\/p>\n<div id=\"block-kenyans-block-39\" class=\"block-ad block-ad-article-2 settings-tray-editable block\" data-drupal-settingstray=\"editable\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"article-ad article-ad-2\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1506580564732-0\" data-google-query-id=\"COrii8XcxO8CFXMPBgAd0asOog\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/72379320\/KE-300x250-Articles-2_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>There are 46\u00a0patients currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 708\u00a0patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.<\/p>\n<article data-align=\"center\">\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kenyans.co.ke\/files\/styles\/article_inner_mobile\/public\/images\/media\/Some%20of%20the%20beds%20placed%20within%20the%20Covid-19%20emergency%20treatment%20tent%20at%20the%20Machakos%20Stadium%2C%20April%2020%2C%202020.jpg?itok=rtb1TWg3\" alt=\"Some of the beds placed within the Covid-19 emergency treatment tent at the Machakos Stadium, April 20, 2020\" width=\"470\" height=\"313\" \/><\/div>\n<div>Some of the beds placed within the Covid-19 emergency treatment tent at the Machakos<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/article>\n<p>120 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU),\u00a031\u00a0of whom are on ventilator support\u00a0and 86\u00a0on supplemental oxygen.<\/p>\n<p>Three patients are on observation. Another 67\u00a0patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 58 of them in the general wards. 17 patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).<\/p>\n<p>Kagwe also mentioned that even though the health facilities especially the ICU sections have been overstretched by the rapidly increasing Covid-19\u00a0cases, the health system has not been overrun.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHealth facilities are currently overstretched but not overrun as the number of ICU admissions has shot up from 27 patients in January to 121 as of yesterday March 21,&#8221; said Kagwe.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-ad article-ad-3\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1507752217570-0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In terms of County distribution; Nairobi 730, Kiambu 118, Machakos 60, Kajiado 33, Nakuru 30, Meru 24, Uasin Gishu 23,\u00a0Laikipia 19, Mombasa 14, Murang&#8217;a 10, Kilifi 7, Nyeri 7, Kirinyaga 7.<\/p>\n<p>Tharaka Nithi 6, Kisii 4, Embu 3, Bungoma 3, Busia 3, Kericho\u00a03, Kisumu 3, Nyandarua 3, Taita Taveta 2, Marsabit 2, Baringo 2, Isiolo 2, Kitui 1, Makueni 1, Mandera 1, Migori 1, Nandi 1, Narok 1, Trans Nzoia 1, Kakamega 1, Turkana 1, Wajir 1, West Pokot 1 and Elgeyo Marakwet 1.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AfricaPress-Kenya: Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on Monday, March 22, announced that 1,130 people had\u00a0tested positive for Covid-19, out of a sample size of 5,119\u00a0tested in the last 24 hours.
