AfricaPress-Kenya:<\/strong> Health CAS Rashid Aman on Tuesday, March 23, announced that 1,127 people had\u00a0tested positive for Covid-19, out of a sample size of 5,393\u00a0tested in the last 24 hours with the positivity rate rising to 22.1 percent.<\/p>\n

The total number of confirmed positive Covid-19 cases now stands at\u00a0123,167.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Aman\u00a0announced that 25\u00a0patients\u00a0succumbed to the disease. This brings the cumulative fatality to\u00a0 2,048.<\/p>\n

From the positive cases recorded in the last 24 hours, 1,089\u00a0are Kenyans while 38\u00a0are foreigners. 590\u00a0are males while 537\u00a0are females.<\/p>\n

The youngest is an eight-month-old infant while the eldest is 97\u00a0years.<\/p>\n

210 patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours. Total recoveries now stand at 90,586.<\/p>\n

There are 100\u00a0patients currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 110\u00a0patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.<\/p>\n

135 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU),\u00a034\u00a0of whom are on ventilator support\u00a0and 93\u00a0on supplemental oxygen. Eight patients are on observation.<\/p>\n

Another 55\u00a0patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 55\u00a0of them in the general wards. 13\u00a0patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).<\/p>\n

In terms of distribution by counties; Nairobi leads with 575 cases, Nakuru 99, Kimabu 92, Macahakos 66, Kisumu 47, Uasin Gishu 45, Nyeri 32, Mombasa 25, Kirinyaga 18, Nyandarua 14, Kitui 14.<\/p>\n

Kajiado 12, Turkana 11, Taita Taveta 10, Kericho 10, Meru 9, Kilifi 9, Kakamega 7, Trans Nzoia 7, Nandi 6, Siaya 4 Murang’a 3, Elgeyo Marakwet 2, Homa Bay 2, West pokot 2, Embu, Garissa, Laikipia, Kwale, Vihiga and Busia 1 case each.<\/p>\n

While addressing the media, Aman affirmed that the country was entering a pivotal stage in the fight against the pandemic.<\/p>\n

He urged all Kenyans to be vigilant by minimising movement and contact by any means necessary.
