The High Court in Mombasa has found Mombasa Governor Hasan\u00a0Joho (pictured) guilty of contempt of court and demolishing a multi-million property belonging to Mombasa\u00a0tycoon Ashok Doshi.Justice Silas Munyao on Thursday ordered that\u00a0Joho\u00a0appear before him to mitigate before his sentencing to six months in civil jail.The judge also summoned Changamwe MCA Benard Ogutu who was with\u00a0Joho during the demolition of property in Changamwe.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving heard the facts and submissions of the matter, I find both Governor Hassan\u00a0Joho\u00a0and MCA Benard Ogutu guilty of disobeying the court orders. I hereby direct the two to appear before this court to mitigate before sentencing,\u201d said Munyao.The judge said that\u00a0Joho\u00a0was guilty of disobeying court orders stopping him from interfering, trespassing and demolishing the multi-million property of Doshi.Dosh had filed a suit in court seeking to have\u00a0Joho\u00a0arrested and committed to jail for six months over contempt\u00a0of court.<\/p>\n

Doshi\u2019s lawyer Willis Oluga said that on March 6, 2019, Justice Ann Omollo granted orders stopping the County government of Mombasa from interfering with the said suit through a consent written by him and county government lawyers.Joho\u00a0had accused\u00a0Doshi\u00a0of grabbing the said land which he claims belongs to Changamwe Secondary School and promised to reposes it back to the school.<\/p>\n

Joho\u00a0then revoked the allotment that he claims the former municipal council of Mombasa allocated to Turf Developers Limited who were the original owners of the said land before\u00a0Doshi\u00a0bought from them.The tycoon also wanted the County Chief Officer Lands Physical Planning and Housing, Jaffar Mosheh jailed for disobeying court\u2019s orders.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
