{"id":25183,"date":"2021-04-01T19:55:18","date_gmt":"2021-04-01T19:55:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/?p=25183"},"modified":"2021-04-01T19:55:18","modified_gmt":"2021-04-01T19:55:18","slug":"14-die-as-covid-19-positivity-rate-shoots-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/community\/14-die-as-covid-19-positivity-rate-shoots-up","title":{"rendered":"14 Die as Covid-19 Positivity Rate Shoots up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>AfricaPress-Kenya:<\/strong> 984 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19, out of a sample size of 5,319 tested in the last 24 hours with a positivity rate of 18.5% up from\u00a015.3% reported on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Health CAS Dr\u00a0Rashid Aman on Thursday, April 1, announced that 14 deaths had been reported in the past 24 hours bringing the\u00a0cumulative deaths to 2,167.<\/p>\n<p>The total number of confirmed positive Covid-19 cases now stands at 135,042.<\/p>\n<p>From the cases, 928 are Kenyans, 56 are foreigners while 521 are male and 463 are female. The youngest is a 6- year-old infant while the oldest has 97 years.<\/p>\n<article data-align=\"center\">\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kenyans.co.ke\/files\/styles\/article_inner_mobile\/public\/images\/media\/ICUu.JPG?itok=3qnqFx4P\" alt=\"An ICU facility in Nandi County\" width=\"470\" height=\"254\" \/><\/div>\n<div>An ICU facility in Nandi County<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/article>\n<p>He reported that there had been 388 recoveries, 314 from home-based while 74 hospitals bringing the total number of\u00a0recoveries to 93,067.<\/p>\n<p>1,557 patients are currently admitted in various facilities country wide. 4,879 are on home-based isolation and care.<\/p>\n<p>161 are in ICU, 48 are on ventilatory support while 104 on supplemental oxygen, nine patients are on observation.<\/p>\n<p>Nairobi continues to lead with 483 cases, Kiambu 73, Machakos 61, Uasin Gishu 46, Nyeri 36, \u00a0Nakuru 35, Kericho 32, Kitui 28, Mombasa 23, Kisumu 21, while Meru and Kajiado each recorded 20 cases each.<\/p>\n<p>Makueni 16, Nandi 12, Kilifi 10, Samburu 9, Siaya 9, Migori 9, Bomet 6, Kakamega 6, Homa Bay 6, Baringo 4, Bungoma 4, Busia 3, Marsabit 3, Murang&#8217;a 3, Nyandarua 3, \u00a0Elgeyo Marakwet 2, while Mandera, Kirinyaga and Vihiga all had one case each.<\/p>\n<p>Nairobi continues to lead with 483, Kiambu 73, Machakos 61, Uasin Gishu 46, Kitui 28, Meru and Kajiado 20<\/p>\n<p>The Health CS warned against lowering guard against as the vaccine is being rolled out in the country.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-ad article-ad-3\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1507752217570-0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Let us not imagine that the vaccine is a panacea to the pandemic, it is not.It is just one piece of weaponry that is used in the war.
