{"id":25290,"date":"2021-04-03T19:59:27","date_gmt":"2021-04-03T19:59:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/?p=25290"},"modified":"2021-04-03T19:59:27","modified_gmt":"2021-04-03T19:59:27","slug":"cak-revokes-licenses-of-21-courier-companies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/community\/cak-revokes-licenses-of-21-courier-companies","title":{"rendered":"CAK Revokes Licenses of 21 Courier Companies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>AfricaPress-Kenya:<\/strong> The Communications Authority of Kenya\u00a0(CA) announced the revocation of the licenses of 21 postal and courier services in the country out of the\u00a0266 licensed postal courier operators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCAK intends to revoke the licenses granted to the licensees due to the non-compliance of the applicable license conditions,\u201d stated the Authority in a Gazette notice.<\/p>\n<p>This will deny the companies rights to operate and provide services.<\/p>\n<p>According to the authority, the\u00a0revocation of these licenses\u00a0may affect the public and local authorities, companies, persons, or bodies of persons within the country.<\/p>\n<article data-align=\"center\">\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kenyans.co.ke\/files\/styles\/article_inner_mobile\/public\/images\/media\/Courier%20van%20full%20of%20parcels%20and%20boxes.jpg?itok=4glarr-_\" alt=\"Courier van full of parcels and boxes\" width=\"470\" height=\"316\" \/><\/div>\n<div>Courier van full of parcels and boxes<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/article>\n<p>The companies affected include Randa Coach, Tahmeed Courier, Masterpiece Courier Services Limited, National Cargo Limited, Tencent Courier Limited, Arrow Industries Limited, Paynet Wireless Limited, Modern Coast Courier, and Speedex Logistics Limited.<\/p>\n<p>Transcounty Couriers, Prime Group Limited, Amana Parcels and Courier Services, Henkab Courier Services, and Global Freight Logistics were also listed.<\/p>\n<p>The authority, however, gave\u00a0room for complaints and objections.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Any legal or natural person, or group of individuals, who are desirous of making any representation\u00a0and or any objection to the said revocation of the licenses as aforementioned must to do so by a letter addressed to the Director general Communications Authority of Kenya, \u00a0indicating the Licence Category on the cover enclosing it,&#8221; stated CA.<\/p>\n<p>The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) is the regulatory authority for the communications sector in Kenya. Established in 1999 by the Kenya Information and Communications Act, 1998, the Authority is responsible for facilitating the development of the information and communications sectors including; broadcasting, cybersecurity, multimedia, telecommunications, electronic commerce, postal, and courier services.<\/p>\n<p>It is also responsible for licensing all systems and services in the communications industry, including; telecommunications, postal, courier and broadcasting<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 80 percent\u00a0of e-commerce purchases are delivered across courier networks, logistics companies, passenger transport vehicles, freelance courier riders, and drivers.
