AfricaPress-Kenya:<\/strong> The Teachers Service Commission has extended the deadline for teachers to fill the\u00a0Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development (TPAD) system\u00a0to\u00a0April 6, 2021.<\/p>\n

In a circular\u00a0to all county directors, the commission noted that it would extend the period for teachers to fill in the details on the online portal\u00a0following complaints by teachers about the system’s unresponsiveness.<\/p>\n

The Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development (TPAD) system\u00a0is a mechanism that allows\u00a0TSC\u00a0to evaluate teachers’ performance\u00a0as per the agency’s set standards.<\/p>\n

Performance appraisal is crucial, as it serves the purpose of reviewing and improving teaching standards through a systemic appraisal approach.\u00a0This, in turn, promotes professional development.<\/p>\n

TSC has moved its services online\u00a0with a\u00a0circular dated February 15 from\u00a0TSC CEO Nancy Macharia stating\u00a0that teachers would have to apply for promotions and transfers online.<\/p>\n

The Commission disclosed that there would\u00a0be\u00a0no manual applications for the recruitment and promotion of teachers effective March 1.<\/p>\n

“To this end, applications for transfer shall be accessed through the Commission’s website at tsc.go.ke as per the attached schedule while the mode and manner of application for both recruitment and promotion will be communicated in the adverts whenever there is a vacancy,” the circular read in part.<\/p>\n

For teachers looking to fill the form, the appraisal form is downloadable on the TPAD site. The form shall be duplicated and filled three times in a term, that is once per month.<\/p>\n

The form contains two parts:<\/p>\n

Part 1: Personal Data<\/em><\/p>\n

This includes a teacher’s personal information and employment record<\/p>\n

Part 2: Performance Evaluation<\/em><\/p>\n

The appraiser and appraisee jointly discuss the appraisee’s performance in terms of departmental\/divisional objectives, agreed work targets, performance standards, output and expected results and the skills\/competencies exhibited.<\/p>\n
