Deputy President William Ruto yesterday asked Kenyans to ensure their views were captured in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) dialogue, noting the process was not exclusively for politicians.<\/p>\n
Speaking during a fundraising for a dormitory project at Giakanja Secondary School in Nyeri Town Constituency, the DP said the interests of all Kenyans should be captured in the BBI dialogue.\u201cFarmers, boda boda operators and traders should have a voice in the BBI dialogue, and those who are preparing that document should listen to everyone who has interest in contributing to nation-building,\u201d he said.During the fundraiser, the DP was accompanied by County MP Rahab Mukami, MPs Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), Anthony Kiai (Mukurweini) and Gitonga Murugara (Tharaka).<\/p>\n
Mr Gachagua noted that he would only support the BBI on condition that it offered a guaranteed minimum return, for farmers. \u201cWe shall not support a document that seeks to increase cost of living for Kenyans by creating unnecessary positions in government,\u201d he said.Mr Muragara said voters had chosen Jubilee government and the handshake was an attempt to bring opposition into government. \u201cKenyans went to the polls and made it clear they want to be led by Jubilee, but some other leaders are using the \u2018back door\u2019 to get into power,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
