Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy President William Ruto met over 50 individuals including a section of Mt Kenya politicians- on Friday morning, May 7 – hours after MPs passed the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) bill.<\/p>\n

The meeting was conducted at Nakuru Senator, Susan Kihika’s Karen, Nairobi home.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, stated that the politicians and experts from different sectors met to discuss economic revival, a subject the DP has been propagating since the pandemic broke out in the country.<\/p>\n

“I was the moderator at the meeting where we re-validated the Bottom-Up Economic Model after the Maasai Mara retreat,” Kuria disclosed.<\/p>\n

At Maasai Mara, Ruto was accompanied by economist David Ndii and Mt Kenya politicians. The group reportedly worked on developing a new economic model.<\/p>\n

The Bottom-Up Economic model is aligned with Ruto’s hustler system which seeks to uplift the common citizen and provide them with an opportunity to have a say in government.<\/p>\n

Ruto also broke his silence on the BBI vote saying that “In line with democracy, the National assembly voted on the Constitution Amendment Bill and so will the Senate. When the people’s turn comes, they too will vote and we will march on. We should respect everyone’s decision & accept democratic outcomes. All views makes us stronger together.”<\/p>\n

Kuria further refuted rebutted claims alleging that the DP met the MPs at Karen to deliberate the outcome of the BBI vote in at the National Assembly. Multiple reports stated that Ruto strategised his plans after MPs allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga passed the bill.<\/p>\n

235 MPs out of 320 voted for the bill, 83 against while two abstained. Most of the 83 lawmakers who rejected it were aligned to the DP.<\/p>\n

Some of his close allies notably MPs Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati) and Feisal Badder (Msambweni) voted for the bill.<\/p>\n

“What’s the difference with this (BBI) which takes funds to the grassroots level from MCAs to the top, and allocates five new constituencies for Nakuru county government? I am still the chief campaigner of DP William Ruto.
