Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has disowned the list ranking top schools in the KCSE results that were released on Monday, May 10.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the examination body stated that the list released for top schools and which had been circulated widely on social media was false.<\/p>\n

KNEC further advised the public to ignore the list circulating adding that it did not commission the ranking.<\/p>\n

\u2069”We wish to advise the public to ignore lists circulating in social media purported to be the genuine ranking of KCSE Examination results. The Council has not ranked schools in the results released. All lists are therefore fake,” KNEC noted.<\/p>\n

In the now disputed list, Kenya High School was ranked the top school with a mean score of 10.467 followed by Kapsabet Boys with 10.11.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Education observed that ran\u00adking in\u00addi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adal stu\u00addents and scho\u00adols cre\u00ada\u00adted fier\u00adce com\u00adpe\u00adti\u00adtion which so\u00adme\u00adti\u00admes le\u00add to de\u00adpar\u00adtu\u00adre from te\u00adaching to pre\u00adpa\u00adra\u00adtion for pas\u00adsing exa\u00admi\u00adna\u00adtions and che\u00ada\u00adting.<\/p>\n

“In their ef\u00adfort to ob\u00adtain high gra\u00addes, stu\u00addents and so\u00adme\u00adti\u00admes te\u00adachers re\u00adsort to va\u00adrio\u00adus forms of che\u00ada\u00adting de\u00adsig\u00adned to gi\u00adve a can\u00addi\u00adda\u00adte un\u00adfair ad\u00advan\u00adtage over ot\u00adhers.<\/p>\n

“This ta\u00adkes ma\u00adny forms inc\u00adlu\u00adding co\u00adpy\u00ading from ot\u00adher stu\u00addents du\u00adring exa\u00admi\u00adna\u00adtions, col\u00adlu\u00adsion bet\u00adwe\u00aden stu\u00addents and su\u00adper\u00advi\u00adsors, use of ma\u00adte\u00adrial smug\u00adgled in\u00adto the exa\u00admi\u00adna\u00adtion ro\u00adoms and pur\u00adcha\u00adsing of exa\u00admi\u00adna\u00adtion pa\u00adpers,” an education report revealed.<\/p>\n

On the students part, ranking made the we\u00adak ones to be re\u00adgis\u00adte\u00adred in the low ran\u00adked scho\u00adols furt\u00adher lo\u00adwe\u00adring their me\u00adan sco\u00adres and af\u00adfec\u00adted pro\u00admo\u00adtions to se\u00adnior po\u00adsi\u00adtions.<\/p>\n

The\u00adre we\u00adre tho\u00adse who felt that ran\u00adking was un\u00adfair be\u00adcau\u00adse com\u00adpe\u00adti\u00adtion was ske\u00adwed by a number of fac\u00adtors for exam\u00adple, scho\u00adols did not ha\u00adve le\u00advel pla\u00ady\u00ading ground as they we\u00adre di\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adfied in terms of avai\u00adla\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adty of re\u00adsour\u00adces and the en\u00adtry be\u00adha\u00advio\u00adur of the stu\u00addents.<\/p>\n

While announcing the KCSE 2020 results on Monday, May 10, Magoha stated that the class of 2020 had improved as compared to the class of 2019. 893 students scored A plain as compared to 627 candidates in 2019.<\/p>\n
