Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Irate parents from Busia County have shut down two schools after they exhibited poor performance in the national examinations.<\/p>\n

Speaking to KBC, a section of the parents noted that both Alomodoi and Nanderema primary schools’ performance had gone on a downward spiral in the past years.<\/p>\n

“The results of this school have been on a downward spiral since the headteacher and his deputy joined.<\/p>\n

“We urge the Ministry of Education to intervene in this dire situation,” one parent from Nanderema primary school noted.<\/p>\n

The case was similar to Alomodoi school where the parents faulted the school’s management over the performance which was below par.<\/p>\n

“The problem with the school is the issue of management as the school’s resources are constantly mismanaged,” a parent from Alomodoi school noted.<\/p>\n

The parents urged the Education Ministry to intervene and assist the affected schools in order to reclaim their lost glory.<\/p>\n

The news comes as Education CS George Magoha on Monday, May 10, noted that there was a rise in performance in the 2020 KCSE results as opposed to its performance the previous year.<\/p>\n

He noted that the performance had improved despite the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic which led to a nine-month hiatus for schools.<\/p>\n

Magoha assured all students that they would successfully transition into universities and TVET institutions as promised by the government.<\/p>\n

He added that this would equip them with the skills needed to shape their future.<\/p>\n
