The positivity rate now stands at 3.5\u00a0percent.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a statement released on Monday, May 17, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that the cumulative numbers have\u00a0risen to 165,537.<\/p>\n<p>From the cases, 63\u00a0are Kenyans while 9\u00a0are foreigners. 45\u00a0are male and 27\u00a0are female. The youngest is a one-year-old\u00a0infant while the oldest is 84\u00a0years.<\/p>\n<article data-align=\"center\">\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kenyans.co.ke\/files\/styles\/article_inner_mobile\/public\/images\/media\/Health%20Acting%20Director%20General%20Dr%20Patrick%20Amoth%20receives%20the%20Covid-19%20vaccine%20on%20Friday%2C%20March%205.jpg?itok=Rt9c_2k6\" alt=\"Health Acting Director General Dr Patrick Amoth receives the Covid-19 vaccine on Friday, March 5.\" width=\"366\" height=\"180\" \/><\/div>\n<div>Health Acting Director General Dr Patrick Amoth receives the Covid-19 vaccine on Friday, March 5.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/article>\n<p>262 individuals recovered from Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, 27\u00a0from various health facilities countrywide while 235\u00a0from home-based and isolation care.<\/p>\n<p>Total recoveries now stand at 113,874\u00a0of which\u00a082,777\u00a0are from Home Based Care and Isolation while 31,097\u00a0are from various health facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, 10 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, all on diverse dates within the last one month. Cumulative fatalities now stand at 3,013.<\/p>\n<p>1,036\u00a0patients are admitted to various health facilities in the country while 4,729\u00a0are in home-based isolation and care. 108\u00a0are in the ICU &#8211; 23\u00a0of them being on ventilatory support and 70 on supplementary oxygen. 15 patients are on observation.<\/p>\n<p>Another 84\u00a0patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 79\u00a0in general wards and five in High Dependency Units (HDU).<\/p>\n<p>The news comes as CS Kagwe had urged Kenyans to adhere to the guidelines stipulated by the Ministry of Health in order to ensure that the Covid-19 positivity curve drops.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that\u00a0tougher measures\u00a0would be instituted by the government if the positivity rate increases.
