Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Detectives from the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) on Wednesday, May 20, raided the Nyandarua County offices in Ol Kalou.<\/p>\n

They are also said to have also raided the home of the governor’s secretary and the Roads CEC – Mary Mugwanja.<\/p>\n

The detectives are probing the embezzlement of Ksh55 million following a complaint that was filed at the agency.<\/p>\n

Charles Rasugu, the anti-graft agency central region manager, stated that the raid was targeting Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia’s office.<\/p>\n

“They took some documents from the governor’s secretary and the finance office to help us crack the case that emanated from the tender issued in 2019,” Rasungu told the Standard.<\/p>\n

He added that no official had been arrested so far regarding the matter.<\/p>\n

The tender in question is reportedly linked to the son of a senior government official.<\/p>\n

The raid came a day after Kimemia was blamed for Jubilee’s poor performance in Rurii Ward which was won by UDA candidate Francis Muraya.<\/p>\n

Jubilee MPs and allied bloggers claimed that the loss was a protest against the Governor after he was picked to head the Jubilee campaigns.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Nyandarua County Assembly Speaker Ndegwa Wahome was impeached. He was impeached over gross misconduct, abuse of office and nepotism.<\/p>\n

It is suspected that some of the issues that could have led to his impeachment include; his stand on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Bill and a rift between him and the governor.<\/p>\n

He had previously accused the governor of failing to to implement his development agenda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
