Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua yesterday said they had decided to forget their differences and forge Kamba unity.<\/p>\n
The leaders, who have been locked in a supremacy battle, said they had realised that working together was the best way to address challenges affecting the region.They met in Dr Mutua’s office before proceeding to Kalama sub-county in Machakos for the burial of a local businessman, John Kang\u2019aatu.<\/p>\n
During the burial ceremony, the two exchanged pleasantries and even hugged.\u00a0 \u00a0Mutua said even though they differed on ideology, they saw no reason not to work together for the good of their community.<\/p>\n
“I have decided to work with all leaders in Ukambani, including the Wiper Party leader, in the interest of addressing challenges facing our people. Those who have called me names, I forgive you. I invite all leaders for a dialogue that will unite our people,” said Mutua.Mutua said the fact that he has declared interest in the presidency in 2022 does not mean he is against Kalonzo, who harbours similar ambitions.<\/p>\n
“Kalonzo and I want to run for presidency and there is nothing wrong with that. We will discuss and seek the opinion of our people on who should actually be backed for the top office,” he said.<\/p>\n
He asked Kalonzo to talk to some of his allies who have been insulting him.Kalonzo also pledged to join efforts to unite the region.”I am ready and willing to work with all leaders from this region because I have no room for hatred in my heart. I have also forgiven those who wronged me. Let us all work together,\u201d said Kalonzo.He added: “I am also urging all MCAs in this region to unite for the good of our people.<\/p>\n
Let us stop propaganda and focus on developing our counties.”Machakos Woman Representative\u00a0Joyce Kamene lauded the leaders’ unity bid.”This is a sign of good things to come.
