Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>NARC-Kenya leader Martha Karua took a swipe at the media and other individuals who she accused of pushing her to align herself with certain political camps.<\/p>\n

Karua, on Tuesday, May 25 – while appearing on Citizen TV’s Day Break Show – corrected anchor Sam Gituku who asked her to clarify her stance and alliance.<\/p>\n

“At the moment politically, there are different organisations ranging from the BBI proponents or the Okoa Kenya Alliance, One Kenya Alliance and Deputy President William Ruto. What do you make of these groups and where do you find yourself?” Gituku inquired.<\/p>\n

The seasoned lawyer and former Presidential aspirant argued that the anchor had deliberately excluded her group, the Linda Katiba.<\/p>\n

“You can mention all those others and then ask me where I am yet you know I am part of Linda Katiba. Politically, I belong to NARC-Kenya and you introduced me as a leader of that party that wants to govern Kenya according to its ideologies – alliance of social justice.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am imploring you (the media) to stop trying to box us into formations that for whatever reason appear palatable. Stop pushing us into either Ruto or Raila-Uhuru side (ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta). There is more than these two sides,” Karua lambasted.<\/p>\n

She further explained that NARC-Kenya had not yet decided which camp to align to as they were focused on protecting the 2010 Constitution from the BBI amendments. “I have been consistent in defending the Constitution and will remain consistent,” she affirmed.<\/p>\n

In an article published on a local daily on March 10, Karua explained that the Linda Katiba is an effort to help citizens sift through the falsehoods being peddled by the proponents of BBI and make informed decisions.<\/p>\n

“Even in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic the BBI project priorities political deal-making over the lives of Kenyans. The government is telling us that it will take Us up to three years for only thirty per cent of the population to access Covid-19 vaccines.<\/p>\n

“From where I stand the BBI project is a return to autocratic rule, to an imperial president who is not accountable to parliament. We are not helpless. We need to make our voices count,” the former Justice Minister wrote.<\/p>\n

Linda Katiba was at the forefront of celebrating the High Court ruling which declared the BBI project null and void. It noted that the ruling restored and reasserted the sovereignty of the people of Kenya and the supremacy of the Constitution.<\/p>\n

The group was among those that enjoined the petition against BBI at the High Court. Linda Katiba is expected to fight an appeal by Attorney General Paul Kihara Kariuki against the BBI ruling at the Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Kenyatta should be bringing the nation together and leading by example by having a good working relationship with his deputy.<\/p>\n

“He has set a bad example where a president can ignore the constitution and the law and lockout his deputy from work. One wonders then who would want to be a deputy in those circumstances,\u201d Karua castigated Uhuru during the interview.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
