Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The National Transport and Safety Authority has announced a scheduled upgrade to its services that will result in the unavailability of services from Thursday, May 27, 2021, at 5 pm to Monday, May 31, 2021 evening at 5 pm.<\/p>\n

In a notice, NTSA stated that all portals hosted on their websites as well as the mobile application will not be available.<\/p>\n

The services that are usually available on tims.ntsa.go.ke will be unavailable. They include; Smart DL booking and enrollment of PDL, Test Booking application and collection of Logbooks and Number Plates.<\/p>\n

The Authority plans to undertake an upgrade and system maintenance as part of their continuous service improvement strategies.<\/p>\n

The services including transfer of ownership, inspection booking, duplicate logbook among others will however be available to the public on the revamped TIMS \u2013 timssvirl.ntsa.go.ke once the maintenance is undertaken.<\/p>\n

This system upgrade comes just after NTSA announced it would commence inspecting vehicles that are more than four years old from the date of manufacture on Kenyan roads.<\/p>\n

In a letter signed by Interior and Citizen Services PS Paul Famba, all vehicles regardless of ownership will be inspected in line with Section 16 (2) of the Traffic Act.<\/p>\n

The system has previously been breached by hackers who upload vehicle details into the system registering vehicles without import duty.<\/p>\n

In May, NTSA conducted a systems training for members of the public. This was ahead of this planned roll-out of the revamped Transport Integrated Management Systems-TIMS.<\/p>\n

While presiding over the training, Director-General George Njao said the move is in line with the Authority\u2019s digital transformation journey.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn undertaking its mandate, the Authority is in the process of rolling out a revamped Transport Integrated Management System for better service delivery to the public,\u201d Njao said.<\/p>\n

He said the aim of the training for the members of the public was to allow them a chance to view and interact with the system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
