{"id":28538,"date":"2021-05-27T18:01:04","date_gmt":"2021-05-27T18:01:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/?p=28538"},"modified":"2021-05-27T16:36:17","modified_gmt":"2021-05-27T16:36:17","slug":"ruto-advises-uhuru-on-bbi-ruling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/ruto-advises-uhuru-on-bbi-ruling","title":{"rendered":"Ruto Advises Uhuru on BBI Ruling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\">Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy President William Ruto advised his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta, on navigating the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) setback occasioned by the High Court ruling which nullified the project.<\/p>\n<p>During the National Prayer Breakfast at Parliament Buildings on Thursday, May 27, Ruto urged Uhuru to reach out to him (DP) and other leaders to discuss the way forward.<\/p>\n<p>He based his advice on a bible verse read by ODM leader Raila Odinga at a similar event in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So much happened but as we stand today, the Tanga Tanga tours are over and the reggae has also stopped. I think we have to listen and do something together.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Former Prime Minister (Raila Odinga) said something profound (in 2018). In fact, in a very uncharacteristic manner, he gave us a verse, Isaiah 1:18 that says &#8216;come let us reason together. Maybe God is speaking to us again, telling us to reason together,&#8221; Ruto stated.<\/p>\n<p>He also took a swipe at Parliament Speaker Justin Muturi&#8217;s coronation by elders while analysing the events that have occurred since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out in March 2020.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Even in the midst of this pandemic, we have had positive things; the President launched the Lamu Port, we got our first female CJ (Martha Koome) and also our speaker (Muturi) got an appointment with the elders,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Uhuru, while speaking, deviated from a direct confrontation with his deputy and reiterated the need to preach peace and unity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;First and foremost to thank the Speakers for arranging this event despite the pandemic. The prayers that have been said today are geared towards giving us hope at a time when we are confronted by the worst health pandemic ever.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We need to pull and work together and have hope that we are indeed able to overcome this challenge. Let us not hear the summons today and forget these teachings tomorrow,&#8221; Uhuru rallied.<\/p>\n<p>He urged Parliament to consider health bills tabled before them and asked the Speakers to expedite the hearings.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Access to quality healthcare is imperative for all Kenyans.
