{"id":28717,"date":"2021-05-30T18:34:55","date_gmt":"2021-05-30T18:34:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/?p=28717"},"modified":"2021-05-30T16:55:08","modified_gmt":"2021-05-30T16:55:08","slug":"17-year-old-police-impersonator-arrested-with-military-equipment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/17-year-old-police-impersonator-arrested-with-military-equipment","title":{"rendered":"17-Year-Old Police Impersonator Arrested with Military Equipment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\">Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>A 17-year-old police imposter has been arrested after being nabbed allegedly conning clients in Nakuru Town.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the press on Sunday, May 30, Nakuru Town East Sub-county Police Commander Ellena Kabukuru disclosed that the minor was in the company of a 26-year-old colleague.<\/p>\n<p>The two were reportedly found in possession of several military gear including jackets and handcuffs.<\/p>\n<p>Upon interrogation, the duo directed the police to a private household in Mwaniki Estate in Nakuru where additional equipment was recovered.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They were [found] with a police jacket and handcuffs, impersonating police officers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When we interrogated them they led us to a private residence in Mwariki Estate, where we recovered an assortment of military items including uniforms, military boots, handcuffs, smoke jackets and berets,&#8221; stated the Sub-County Commander.<\/p>\n<p>The two were also found with a motorcycle they used to carry out the patrols.<\/p>\n<p>Kabukuru further noted that a third suspect who owned the house in which the military equipment was recovered, escaped and a police hunt has been mounted against him.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are pursuing him. We will catch up with him. Those arrested are in custody, helping police with investigations which may lead to arrest of more suspects,&#8221; she added.<\/p>\n<p>This comes as police continue to battle increased insecurity incidents in Rift Valley region and are at times forced to use fire when dealing with armed robbers.<\/p>\n<p>In mid-April, three robbers were shot dead after they were caught on CCTV cameras robbing supermarkets.<\/p>\n<p>Police in Eldoret Town disclosed, at the time, that the three were gunned down after a fierce shootout between the gang of five and enforcement officers.<\/p>\n<p>In the incident which occurred at around 7.30 pm, the thugs had come out to rob Transmatt supermarket located within the CBD.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Kenya.
