Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) on Wednesday, June 9, appointed David Njeng’ere as the new CEO, taking over from Mercy Karogo who served for the last five years.<\/p>\n

A statement signed by the KNEC chairman Dr. John Onsati indicated that Dr Njengere will serve for a five-year-term effective July 1, 2021.<\/p>\n

The appointment came following an advertisement for the position of Chief Executive Officer in April 2021.<\/p>\n

The council was looking for a firm, self-driven, results-oriented, dynamic, innovative, robust, fair, and transparent leader.<\/p>\n

“Upon completing all necessary recruitment procedures, and following the following the due process, the Council is proud to announce that Dr.David Njeng’ere Kabita has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of KNEC,” reads the statement.<\/p>\n

Njengere has over 30 years experience and a specilist in curriculum design and assessment.<\/p>\n

In addition, he is a doctorate holder from the Moi University.<\/p>\n

“He will be tasked with spearheading the transformative gains the Council has made in examinations management, especially in the reforms that ended leakage of national examination and restored credibility and integrity in national examinations in Kenya,” reads the statement in part.<\/p>\n

KNEC aims to step up its service to the next level and particularly in administering assessments under the Competency Based Curriculum.<\/p>\n

The Council has praised Karogo for her exemplary service to the council.<\/p>\n

“She helped the Council to achieve its transformative agenda through critical reforms that have ensured the restoration of credibility and integrity in the national examinations in Kenya.”<\/p>\n

Karogo was appointed during CS Fred Matiang\u2019i\u2019s tenure when he headed the Education ministry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
