Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>High Court judge, Justice Joel Ngugi explained why he won’t sue President Uhuru Kenyatta for rejecting to appoint him to the Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n

Ngugi, on Monday, June 14, stated that three cases were filed against Uhuru at the High Court in Nairobi challenging the President’s decision to reject six and appoint 34 judges.<\/p>\n

The lawsuits were filed by lawyer Adrian Kamotho Njenga, the Katiba Institute and Dr Magere Gakenyi. Ngugi further told Nation that he wouldn’t comment on his intentions to sue any further.<\/p>\n

Asked if he was furnished with details of the report presented to Uhuru by investigative agencies, Ngugi stated that “For this question, you will have to ask the Head of State who left my lawfully forwarded name.<\/p>\n

“I have never been informed of any reservations or served with any complaints by any person, organisation or state organ about my application or nomination by the JSC to the Court of Appeal,” Ngugi insisted.<\/p>\n

Justice George Odunga, who was also left out stated that he hasn’t thought about suing Uhuru and has also not received details of the intel gathered against him.<\/p>\n

The President, on Monday, June 14, rejected pleas to appoint Odunga, Ngugi and the other four judges, Weldon Korir, Aggrey Muchelule, Evans Kiago and Judith Omange.<\/p>\n

While addressing Ukambani leaders at State House, Uhuru was reported to have reiterated that the judges had integrity issues. He added that he forwarded the report to former Chief Justice David Maraga and the Judicial Service Commission.<\/p>\n

“Maraga and the JSC refused to act on the report, which was in their possession. I have also shared it with the current CJ Martha Koome. They have the report; they can act on it or decide otherwise. That is my position.<\/p>\n

“I have the report and it is clear. What do I do with it? It is for the JSC to process it,” Uhuru clarified.<\/p>\n

ODM leader Raila Odinga and CJ Koome were among leaders who pressured Uhuru to appoint the six judges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
