Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The late former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo was taken ill at the Nairobi Hospital on Saturday, June 12.<\/p>\n

On arrival at the hospital, the doctors noted that his blood pressure was low and admitted him to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), his family said.<\/p>\n

Jakoyo’s brother, George Midiwo, disclosed that the deceased was well and could even speak on Sunday, June 13, only to die the following day at around 4 pm.<\/p>\n

George disclosed that the deceased had previously been diagnosed with acute kidney failure and doctors were trying to establish its cause.<\/p>\n

Before his hospitalisation, Jakoyo had travelled from his Siaya home to Nairobi to celebrate his two children’s stellar performance in school.<\/p>\n

“His daughter had recently graduated from a South African university while his son scored an A (plain) in the 2020 KCSE exam,\u201d George told the Standard.<\/p>\n

In just two weeks, the Midiwo family has lost four members including; Jakoyo’s elder sister Julia who died on Sunday, his grandmother who passed away on June 2 and a maternal uncle.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe lost Jakoyo today but many don\u2019t know we lost his elder sister Julia on Sunday. Double tragedy. A tragic loss. Gutted!” the deceased’s niece Winnie Odinga wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n

Jakoyo’s death was announced by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) on June 14, who mourned him as a gallant son of the soil.<\/p>\n

“A founder member of the Change Movement and a three time Member of Parliament for Gem Hon. Jakoyo Midiwo. He was a defender of the party and never shied away from speaking the truth,” the party wrote.<\/p>\n

Before his death, Jakoyo is said to have warned ODM leader Raila Odinga from attending burials in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
